Located in the heart of Yau Ma Tei, Mingle Place In The Shai
is right next to Temple Street, with its world-famous
kilometer-long open-air bazaar "Night Market". Hundreds of peddlers appear
after sunset along with visitors and customers looking for a good deal.
Almost anything can be found here. Inexpensive items in the market include
electronic products, clothes, jade articles, coins, toys, CD's, music boxes,
lighters, ties, jeans, T-shirts, clothing and leather wares. Delightful
great buys can often be discovered at bargain prices.
Close by is also the Jade Market, where you won’t be
disappointed with the quality and quantity of jade being sold by the more
than 400 stalls there. Jade accessories include rings, bangles, pendants
and earrings, but expect to come across some more unusual finds as well.
This is the place to pick up an authentic Chinese good-luck charm.

Yau Ma Tei, literally "oil and jute grounds", is an
old local settlement in Hong Kong. By 1860, Yau Ma Tei was a beach and
a bay gathering many Tanka fishermen. Its waters remains a safe harbour
and typhoon shelter for fishermen even after several rounds of reclamation.
In later years, the Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter became an
exotic water area where restaurants on boats offered dishes of indigenous
seafood. These "typhoon shelter-style dishes" remain extremely famous to this day
and are frequently offered on land.
Shanghai Street, where Mingle Place In The Shai
is located, was the main street for decades before being replaced by
the wider (and world-famous shopping paradise) Nathan Road,
located within 5 minutes' walk.
