Mingle Place In The Shai is designed to bring you back to mid-1800's old Hong Kong and let you live in a classical "Tong Lau" (literally "Chinese Residential Building").

A great deal of time was spent in research to bring back the classical themes and design elements of the mid 1800's. While being as original and authentic as possible, a balance is kept for full functionality, efficiency and convenience to staying guests. Great effort was made in retaining as much of the original structure and building materials as possible.

All historical photos, pictures, artworks, antique pieces and collectables displayed in the hotel were procured individually with reference to the years, places and themes. They were sourced from different corner shops, museums, and antique collectors all around Hong Kong. They show people living in Hong Kong in the early days and onwards toiling and giving their hard work to build up a prosperous city that is the marvel today.

The building itself is a historical building more than 50 years old, and we try our best to retain everything original. We operate this hotel for one purpose, and that is to enable you to learn more about historical Hong Kong and to experience the lives of people in the mid-1800's.
